I needed sunshine in my day
Something to wash away the pain
I saw a very gentle side of him
That tickled my heart and made it singI wish he'd run away and hide with me
Love hurts so much more than it seems
There was one thing I didn't show
I love him and he doesn't knowI wonder if I ever see the day
Will I ever find the nerve to say
"I love you"
And will he turn around and walk away
Will he leave or will he stay
If I tell himCould he be the who's in my dreams
Could he be the one sent down for me
There was one thing I failed to show babe
I love him and he doesn't knowHave you ever loved somebody
Secretly loved somebody who didn't know
Have you fell in love with somebody
Deeply in love with somebody who didn't knowCould he be the who's in my dreams
Could he be the one sent down for me
There was one thing I failed to show baby
I love him and he doesn't know"Crush" - Zhane
Don't know if you got a girl
Don't mean to disrespect but
Thoughts of you rule my world
I even dream of you, I swear
Visions of you and ISee you all around my way
Been meaning to say hi but
I'm just way too shy
I gotta make you see this is more than just a silly crush(And I) wonder if you even notice me
(And oh) You gotta feel me
(And I) would love you good
Just wanna be your girlAll alone at night
I harbor feelings for you
Holding my pillow tight
Sometimes I even touch myself imagining your pleasure, babyNext time I see you
I'm gonna walk right up to you and
Say what's on my mind
I gotta make you see
This is mooooooooore
Than just a silly crush(And I) wonder if you even notice me
(And oh) You gotta feel me
(And I) would love you good
(Just wanna be your) just wanna be your girlI wonder if you even notice me and
Ooh you gotta feel me
And I would love you good
Just wanna be, just wanna be, just wanna be
Your girl(And I) wonder if you even notice me
(And oh) You gotta feel me
(And I) would love you good
Just wanna be your girl(And I) I wonder, I wonder
(And oh) You gotta feel me, yeah
(And I) I would love you good
Just wanna be your girl
Wanna be your girl
Girlllll..."Be Your Girl" - Teedra Moses
Oh, dohdohdoh
Ohea
Doh, dohdoddoh
DahdedahShe would sit and listen for hours as I played guitar, ya'll
Sing my songs up on the radio while she was in her car, ya'll
Her interest would grow
She came to my shows
She knew every word, each line that I wrote, oh
Suddenly she was in loveIn time, I met this little girl
Was attracted to her ways, yo
What took years for some couples to build
For us, it just took days, yoSo as time went on, I wrote her a song
Not knowing that song would soon come along
Leaving me in pain, ohShow must go on
Unfortunately
I'm all alone not for my dream
'Cause she couldn't hear me over the music
Didn't hear me over the music
Couldn't hear me over the music
She never really knew my songDoh, dohdohdoh
Ohea
Doh, dohdoddoh
DahdedahAs time went on, she started to see I was not Superman
I may have a gift with these words but I'm no more than a man, so
My songs about joy, my songs about pain
She loved them the same but to me, she'd changed
Oh, didn't know it got so hardI would be up in the studio
Some nights she slept alone
She'd get mad, filled with jealousy, 'cause I'm makin' love to these poems, oh
Now when I do shows it seems she gets steamed
As if I had flings with those girls that scream out my nameShe used to do the same
Show must go on
Unfortunately
I'm all alone not for my dream
'Cause she couldn't hear me over the music
Didn't hear me over the music
Couldn't hear me over the music
She never really knew my songShow must go on
Unfortunately (baby don't you know)
I'm all alone not for my dream (baby don't you know)
'Cause she couldn't hear me over the music
Didn't hear me over the music
Couldn't hear me over the music
She never really knew my song (she never did know my song)I f I find love tomorrow
I'm hoping it don't follow
The path I've been lost on too many times
BabyShow must go on
Unfortunately
I'm all alone not for my dream
'Cause she couldn't hear me over the music
Didn't hear me over the music
Couldn't hear me over the music
She never really knew my song
"Show Must Go On" - Eric Roberson
"I just kissed the softest lips that God has ever made."
Okay, I'ma need to find out who the hell wrote that STAT! Let a fine chocolate specimen say somethin' like that to me! Hell, let a vanilla one say it! It don't matter! Who ever says it, it's goin' down. Meet me in the club boo! LOL!
Okay. It's Eric Roberson.
I first heard of him in a store during the "legendary" trip to NY, March 2003. "Legendary" because we "roughed it", as far as accomodations (which were very nice considering the circumstances). Then, there was the infamous food poisoning/vomit spree in Harlem which bought me minor instant fame. LOL!!!! Then, the quest to find Carol's Daughter (I just KNEW we wouldn't have a problem when we came upon a loc'd-up-Police-Officer-sistah-lady but alas, she was just about more clueless than us.).
I don't remember the store name, but it was not far from Carol's Daughter. It had a whole bunch of stuff in it. Music, clothing, magazines, figurines, oils, soaps, etc. "Nubian"-something or other. I had to ask who they were playing, 'cause whatever he was singing was totally distracting me from my shopping. LOL. Were I not so busy picking up Ainsley Burrows' cd, I would have picked up Eric's. But I didn't. And his name has stuck in my head ever since. So yeah, time to get some of his music.
Okay, it's *ahem*neo-soul*ahem* day here on "Fan in the Stands". LOL. 'Cause I sho' gotta post some lyrics from Floetry.
On my way to work this morning, I was riding out (which reminds me, I need to finally get those dark boys on my windows so I can act a total fool, while driving, in peace) to a "Mr. Nova" if you Nasty! mix ("If You Can Walk You Can Dance" - Love It!), and one of the songs was "Supastar" by Floetry. Now, when I bought that very Floetry cd (as soon as it came out - this is a bad trend), I wasn't much feeling anything on it and, therefore, once again, didn't listen to it more than once. Now, all of a sudden, "Supastar" is my damn jam!
As soon as Natalie said:
"See he's like everything I dreamed of
But better than the preview"
I knew I was hooked on it. But then, she had the nerve to say:
"Now everything he's working on
Has got me saying "Me too!"
Like he food that I need
Blood 'cause he bleed
He real cause I see it's all meant to be
Remember how to make believe
Yo these brotha's are your enemy
You're in a state of disbelief
Without your heart you'll never be
So sisters sing along with me
Because your love is true"
Love it!
Oh yeah, did I already mention that I have a list of songs I want played at the beginning and end of my future wedding, as well as during the entire reception?
I didn't, eh?
Well, I do. And it's great.
I've been mentally compiling this list for years. I've been writing it since late last year though. Finally got on the ball. Don't wanna be rushing at the last minute (in 2018). LOL!
Anyway, like I said in an earlier post, I finally got some of Bilal's tracks. "You're All I Need"... I just get this image in my head of me and my hubby doin' this bounce/pimp/Denzel in that "Malcolm X" (wasn't it "Malcom X") scene where he had the blond hair kinda walk down the aisles after saying our "I Do"s. Hopefully, the folks in the audience will join in and do it too.
It's just so weird. I start laughing everytime I hear the song start 'cause it's all that's in my head, that scene. LOL! I can't hear that song without having all thoughts wiped away, only to be replaced with such a scene. And that's a sign to me. That is how it will be. No further discussion...with myself anyway. LOL.
Ya know, I really love my mother. She's just as sweet as pie and that's what she gets from me in return. See:

Like I said, money in hand or be left at the curb.

And I could SO see her doing that too! LOL!. There is no way another child could have been raised by that woman. The Lord made me to deal with her. And that's for true.
